Finney’s offer the most comprehensive coverage and state-of-the-art funeral facilities in Tasmania. This means that we are in a unique position to co-ordinate every part of the funeral arrangement process.
We offer state-of-the-art equipment in relation to audiovisual, livestream at any location, the most modern fleet of vehicles and premises. This enables us to meet the requirement of any funeral planning request outside of the Finney facilities.
We own and operate joinery for manufacture of all our coffins, meaning your loved one's coffin will be locally made. This gives us the ability to manufacture custom made coffins upon the family’s request.
We also manufacture graves and memorials and have masons on staff to work with our client to ensure smooth delivery of memorials.
We operate Launceston's only private crematorium Chapel located at Franklin Grove.
We have continually invested into our facilities and staff over our long history to bring the Northern Tasmanian community the highest levels of funeral care and facilities. Our clients have a choice of venues, all in beautiful locations, ideal for a small family gathering or a large celebration of life.
All our venues are fully licensed and have catering options to suit all occasions.

Funeral Expenses
Funeral costs are determined by a number of elements. These can include the professional service fee, the coffin or casket, the cemetery, cremation and memorialisation, and third-party disbursements.
Finney Funeral Services offer a range of industry leading facilities and professional staff.
As a member of the Australian Funeral Directors Association we are obliged to provide the family with an estimate of funeral costs at no obligation and extend the invitation for you to come and sit with us to plan your funeral.
Our promise is to look after your family at this emotional time. Rest assured we understand the financial burden of unplanned funeral costs and our philosophy is to understand your situation so we can to avoid any additional stress.
We are locally owned and operated and part of your community. We are an affordable option for any funeral needs and are not part of a multinational funeral operation. We take special care in understanding and meeting the needs of our clients who’s families are part of our local community.
Professional Services Fee
Finney's own and operate three locations in Launceston, all with fully licensed catering facilities.
The Franklin Grove Centre is truly beautiful. The Centre, a newly-built contemporary funeral facility, includes a chapel that can cater for any sized funeral. Whether for a small family gathering or a large celebration of life, the Franklin Grove Centre is the perfect fit. Located on Hobart Road in Youngtown, the Franklin Grove Centre is set on 4 acres with a view of serene countryside and extensive gardens through tall windows.
Guests will be stunned by the elegance of the new funeral centre as they enter the foyer which leads to the chapel, entertainment, and bar areas. A new outdoor reflection garden has been built that was carefully designed to give our clients the feeling of privacy in a comfortable and extremely spacious environment.
The Franklin Grove Chapel is situated at 502 Hobart Road in Youngtown. With a serene, country setting, this chapel is ideal for smaller, more intimate funeral services.
Elegance greets guests as they enter the chapel which leads into a very private, yet comfortable and spacious lounge and catering area. The Franklin Grove Chapel also features stunning outdoor gardens.
The Finney Centre is our main administrative complex and is situated next door to Carr Villa Cemetery in Launceston. Featuring a large, beautifully appointed funeral chapel with modern audio visual system, the Finney Centre caters up to 250 people comfortably. The venue also contains a private lounge, which is convenient for family members to meet prior to the service, as well as an intimate viewing room, which enables last farewells to be made.
Our reception area is light and airy for guests to mingle and share their thoughts and memories. This area leads onto a tranquil garden for peace and quiet reflection.
We also offer the following services as part of our professional fees:
- 24 hour availability transfer of the deceased from place of death into our care
- Professional mortuary care with experienced and qualified staff
- Provision of a church, chapel and/or advice on other suitable venue
- A fleet of suitable modern mourning cars
- Arranging the lodgement of newspaper notices
- Attending to registration of the death and necessary paperwork in relation to the funeral
- Making cemetery or crematorium arrangements
- All necessary staff, vehicles and equipment prior to, and on the day of the funeral
- Liaising with florists, caterers, musicians, clergy or a civil celebrant and having them deliver services required by the family
- Provision of our facilities for all funeral arrangements and follow-up aftercare
The Coffin or Casket
All of Finney's coffins and caskets are proudly manufactured right here by us in Tasmania with an emphasis on quality design and craftsmanship. Our range extends from basic care and custom wood coffins through to highly finished solid timber caskets, with costs dependent on the construction quality, finish and style.
Because we manufacture, we are also able to personalise custom coffins to your requirements. Please speak with your funeral director should you require a custom coffin for your loved one's farewell and we will work to ensure your design is met.
Cemetery, Cremation and Memorialisation
Conveniently, we are located right next door to the Carr Villa Cemetery - Launceston’s oldest and most established cemetery. Finney’s staff can make the necessary arrangements for interment in any of Tasmania’s cemeteries; prices will vary based upon this decision.
We also operate our own private crematorium situated at Franklin Grove, Youngtown.
We are able to assist with supply and installation of monuments and memorials in all Tasmanian Cemeteries. We have our own mason on staff and will work with you to ensure a quality product is delivered within a suitable time frame.
We can provide assistance in relation to memorials, lawn memorial, mausoleums, ashes blocks, majolica ware and inscriptions, and will work with you to ensure your needs are met at the most competitive prices.
Third Party Disbursements
Dependent upon arrangements made for the funeral, there may be a number of third party disbursements. Typically some of these would be:

- Floral arrangements
- Clergy/Celebrant fees
- Church fees
- Musician fees
- Catering charges
